The team on it is fantastic, and one of the volunteers is a shining example
of why these special interest committees are essential to involving more
people. A team member who is absolutely essential is Ed Fochler who had
been in the Party five years but not involved. This struck his interest
and oh my goodness, he is a bundle of talent! There are hundreds of people
out there like that.
There is a mentality in the Party that I think holds us back. We have a
list of tasks we think are important and then a list of volunteers and
think we can just plug all of them into that list. That is a sure way to
lose volunteers - your decades long activists will thrive doing things they
love. And there are plenty of people who love all the things - but we need
to stop acting like only THIS or THAT is worth doing. If it isn't costing
us anything significant let people find where to plant themselves and
bloom. This isn't a fixed pie.
