[Lnc-business] Email Ballot 2018-11: ACKNOWLEDGE ELECTION OF JC

Ok.  After clarifying with Caryn Ann what her proposal is - email balloting following the pattern of voting until 7 get a majority, instead of what I thought it was - echoed by Kenneth at the end of his message I took it to my region.  The response so far has been unanimously in favor of just taking the top 7 and moving on.  Just for flavor here are some direct quotes that are representative of the whole.

"Just accept the top 5 for at-large and top 7 for JC. The people they would put into these roles through alternatives being proposed are likely the same people the delegates chose anyway. So, at this point, it's just creating procedural hurdles for no reason. There are much more important issues to tackle and this has just become a procedural pissing contest."

"Top 7. This is a ridiculous controversy. I think most of us assumed that's what we were doing. We were tired and hungry and forgot we didn't vote on a procedure for JC. We suck. Let's take what we voted for already and move on."

"Keep the top 7. No email voting this time, sorry. If votes could have been done electronically in the first place, then all the delegates that couldn't make it to NOLA due to money or time off should have been able to have voted for all positions and platform changes."

There are pages of that via email,fb, pm, and phone calls.

Given that feedback my vote will remain unchanged unless the unlikely event I get a greater flood the other way in the next couple days.

Thanks Joe! I think it is very important that we all remember that
while we may disagree internally, we need to focus on who we are
actually trying to beat. There is no avoiding factions arising in any
group of people, but the factions of the LP need to remember who we are
working TOGETHER against! That being said, I respect the opinion that
the seven members of the JC was not elected at the convention and can't
therefore be acknowledged. I think a new vote by the delegates could be
a complicated matter to work out, though I am not opposed to it.
Perhaps a better and more reasonable method would be to acknowledge the
election of the top five (given that the JC is elected in the same
manner as the At-Larges) and allow them to fill the last two seats.

Ok. After clarifying with Caryn Ann what her proposal is - email
balloting following the pattern of voting until 7 get a majority,
instead of what I thought it was - echoed by Kenneth at the end of his
message I took it to my region. The response so far has been
unanimously in favor of just taking the top 7 and moving on. Just for
flavor here are some direct quotes that are representative of the
   whole.
"Just accept the top 5 for at-large and top 7 for JC. The people they
would put into these roles through alternatives being proposed are
likely the same people the delegates chose anyway. So, at this point,
it's just creating procedural hurdles for no reason. There are much
more important issues to tackle and this has just become a procedural
   pissing contest."
"Top 7. This is a ridiculous controversy. I think most of us assumed
that's what we were doing. We were tired and hungry and forgot we
didn't vote on a procedure for JC. We suck. Let's take what we voted
   for already and move on."
"Keep the top 7. No email voting this time, sorry. If votes could have
been done electronically in the first place, then all the delegates
that couldn't make it to NOLA due to money or time off should have been
able to have voted for all positions and platform changes."
There are pages of that via email,fb, pm, and phone calls.
Given that feedback my vote will remain unchanged unless the unlikely
event I get a greater flood the other way in the next couple days.

   Subject:Re: [Lnc-business] Email Ballot 2018-11: ACKNOWLEDGE ELECTION
   OF JC
