[Lnc-business] DRAFT MINUTES OF 7/12/18 ExComm Meeting

Dear colleagues:
I hope all is well with you. I am writing to offer comments and
suggestions concerning the draft minutes of the Executive Committee
meeting on July 12.
1) Allow me to suggest that in listing the attendees who are not EC
members, LNC members and alternates should be listed immediately after
the list of EC members who are not in attendance. Thus, I suggest that
the following text be inserted immediately after the statement "Not
Attending: Tim Hagan (Treasurer)":
Other LNC participants were: Alicia Mattson (At-Large representative),
Elizabeth Van Horn (Region 3 representative), Whitney Bilyeu (Region 7
representative), Susan Hogarth (Region 5 alternate).
I suggest this because many LP members consider it the
responsibility of LNC members to attend EC meetings when possible. I
believe listing the LNC members and alternates in attendance immediately
after the list of those EC members not in attendance makes it easier to
determine at a glance which LNC members were (and were not) present.
Incidentally, if I recall correctly, minutes of EC meetings during the
2016-2018 term listed (non-EC) LNC members and alternates in the manner
I suggest.
2) Ms. Bilyeu is listed in the gallery as the Region 3 representative;
she is the Region 7 representative. Also, Ms. Mattson is listed as an
"At Large Representative" in the gallery, whereas Mr. Goldstein and Mr.
Redpath are listed as "At-Large Representatives" in the list of EC
members. Allow me to suggest that there be consistency in hyphenation.
3) In the legend, it is noted that substantive main motions are listed
in green text. Do I assume correctly that the green text will be used
only for the final version (after amendment) of a substantive main
motion? I ask because I believe Mr. Redpath's motion qualifies as a
substantive main motion, albeit one that was subsequently amended.
Please note that I reviewed the draft at warp speed (I had a little
free time this afternoon following the lectures I gave to my courses).
Thus, it is possible I have overlooked something worthy of note.
As always, thanks for your work for liberty. I hope my comments
are helpful to you.
Take care,
Jim
