[Lnc-business] Resolution Proposal

Now that I am more awake, good changes BUT This resolution needs to be much shorter.  All the legalese makes people tune it out.
Make it short and sweet.  "As the Libertarian Party has always supported the right to own property, and the owner's to use that property as they see fit, we resolve rent is not theft".
Use a couple of the terms EVH suggested maybe, but short and sweet, which is odd coming from me I know.
Or even just say "We reaffirm the principles outlined in our platform regarding property rights, therefore rent is not theft".
It IS already covered, so why get carried away.

I was thinking the same. It's better to define what something *is*,
instead of what it's not.

Instead of saying, "rent is not theft", say: "rent is a lawful use of a
capital asset"

I'd also change the word "retrieval" to "regain possession".

Might want to use terms that are in rental and lease agreements,
although probably not necessary if the general gist is there. As the
resolution is an educational statement regarding property use, not a
legal agreement. Try this for that last section:

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, rent is a lawful use of a capital asset, and
owners of property such as land and
housing, have the right to regain possession of said property, and
retain a security deposit, if damages violate the voluntary contractual
agreements.

---------------------------

Oh, and family has owned real estate for many decades, and yes, we
collect rent. It's not theft. ; )

I'll be a co-sponsor.
