Caryn Ann Harlos caryn.ann.harlos at lp.org
Tue Aug 21 07:40:52 EDT 2018

REMINDER - This ballot will expire on August 22, 2018.

I have noted the following (please inform me of any corrections):

Voting AYE: Adams, Harlos, Longstreth, Nekhaila, O’Donell, Smith

Voting NAY: Bishop-Henchman, Goldstein, Hewitt, Hogarth, Mattson, Merced,
Phillips, Redpath, Sarwark, Van Horn

Express Abstentions: None

Not Voting: Hagan

For a current tally of 6-10.

Notes: Regional Alternate Adams’ aye vote is counted in the main tally as
Regional Representative Bilyeu has not voted. Regional Alternate Hogarth’s
nay vote is counted in the main tally as Regional Representative Lark has
not voted. Regional Alternate Olsen had voted aye but that vote was
superseded by Regional Representative Hewitt’s vote of nay. Regional
Alternate Bowden had voted nay for the record though Regional
Representative Longstreth’s aye vote is the one counted in the tally. Regional
Alternates Lee, Lyons, and Anderson have not recorded votes.

Libertarian Party and Libertarian National Committee Secretary - Caryn.Ann.
Harlos at LP.org <Caryn.Ann.Harlos at LP.org> or Secretary at LP.org.
Chair, LP Historical Preservation Committee - LPedia at LP.org

A haiku to the Statement of Principles:
*We defend your rights*
*And oppose the use of force*
*Taxation is theft*
-------------- next part --------------
REMINDER - This ballot will expire on August 22, 2018.

I have noted the following (please inform me of any corrections):

Voting AYE: Adams, Harlos, Longstreth, Nekhaila, O’Donell, Smith

Voting NAY: Bishop-Henchman, Goldstein, Hewitt, Hogarth, Mattson,
Merced, Phillips, Redpath, Sarwark, Van Horn

   Express Abstentions: None

   Not Voting: Hagan

For a current tally of 6-10.

Notes: Regional Alternate Adams’ aye vote is counted in the main
tally as Regional Representative Bilyeu has not voted. Regional
Alternate Hogarth’s nay vote is counted in the main tally as Regional
Representative Lark has not voted. Regional Alternate Olsen had voted
aye but that vote was superseded by Regional Representative Hewitt’s
vote of nay. Regional Alternate Bowden had voted nay for the record
though Regional Representative Longstreth’s aye vote is the one counted
in the tally. Regional Alternates Lee, Lyons, and Anderson have not
   recorded votes.

You can keep track of the Secretary's manual tally of votes here:

        Subject:Re: [Lnc-business] Email Ballot 2018-22: PROPERTY RIGHTS
        RESOLUTION
Richard says, "You (collective sense) either agree with
it or you do not. There is no in between."
I disagree...there are times when I agree with the spirit of a
     resolution,
but not the specific language. There are also times when I agree
     with some
language of the motion, but not all, and question the spirit of it.
     And
there are times when I agree with the specific language, but not the
     spirit
in which it was presented. There are many in-betweens.
Each of us has our own reason for voting as we see fit, and each of
     us is
responsible for explaining ourselves (or not).
No one else gets to decide why we vote the way we vote, or what our
intentions were in doing so. I reject the the notion that we are
     against
something if we aren't for it (and vice versa).
As a Libertarian, I struggle daily with folks who think that if I
     don't
vote their way, then my vote is wasted. Our candidates face this
     every
election cycle...if you vote for C, you might as well be voting for
     B
instead of A. We have a bond election underway right now about flood
control...the message out there is that if you vote against the
     bond, you
must want people to continue losing life and limb to flood waters.
     Really?
This kind of thinking is naive, simple-minded, and reckless.

Susan, if you are referring to my comment, that is not what I
     said at
all. If someone believes in property rights and supports the
resolution, I'm not sure why they would vote against it. Simple
     as
that. Waste of time or not, it is a resolution before us and one
     that
either you support or do not. If you think it is a waste of time,
discourage similar resolutions in the future. This is balloted,
however, and must be voted on. You (collective sense) either
     agree with
it or you do not. There is no in between.

I don’t know what’s worse - the people saying that the
          supporters
               of
this resolution are calling for a purge, or the people
          saying
               that
those who oppose it don’t support the Party’s
     principles.
A resolution may sound like a straightforward
     declaration of
               principle,
but they are always issued for strategic reasons. The
     fact
          that
               some
people disagree with your strategy does not mean they
     oppose
          your
principles or indeed even goals. It’s very destructive
     to
          behave
               as if
                  they do.
Give the reasons for your preferred strategy. Argue
          passionately
               for
it. But stop accusing your allies of being your
     enemies.

Richard says, "You (collective sense) either agree with
it or you do not. There is no in between."
I disagree...there are times when I agree with the spirit of a
resolution, but not the specific language. There are also times
     when I
agree with some language of the motion, but not all, and question
     the
spirit of it. And there are times when I agree with the specific
language, but not the spirit in which it was presented. There are
     many
        in-betweens.
Each of us has our own reason for voting as we see fit, and each
     of us
is responsible for explaining ourselves (or not).
No one else gets to decide why we vote the way we vote, or what
     our
intentions were in doing so. I reject the the notion that we are
against something if we aren't for it (and vice versa).
As a Libertarian, I struggle daily with folks who think that if I
     don't
vote their way, then my vote is wasted. Our candidates face this
     every
election cycle...if you vote for C, you might as well be voting
     for B
instead of A. We have a bond election underway right now about
     flood
control...the message out there is that if you vote against the
     bond,
you must want people to continue losing life and limb to flood
     waters.
Really? This kind of thinking is naive, simple-minded, and
     reckless.

     Simple
          as
that. Waste of time or not, it is a resolution before us and
     one
          that
either you support or do not. If you think it is a waste of
     time,
discourage similar resolutions in the future. This is
     balloted,
