I put official in quote marks for a reason. I think everyone understood
that it meant designated pages.
Whether or not any of us are fans of each other's content, we were all duly
elected, and just because one past member went off the rails (on a
non-designated page btw - if it were set up as a designated page our
censure would have had more teeth) shouldn't rule us in fear. I imagine
that any of us, if we were so inclined, could go off the rails in email or
on the phone - so why are we listing them?
We need to modernize and deal with the reality of how people communicate.
I will say I am astonished that this became an item of controversy while
the fact that an open communist was on stage at our last convention (and
should have been broadcast over CNN) was minimized. I am not saying that
to be bellicose, but to call us all to our priorities. Social media is
here, and that is how people choose to communicate. I don't even bother
look for a company phone number or email first anymore, I send a private
message to their brand page. And get better results.

After convention I received literally hundreds of friend
requests,
people want to connect, and I think it is more appropriate for
those
who want to connect with me on a professional level to follow a
professional profile that’s linked to on the website. Let’s give
the
membership what they want.
As far as what our colleagues post, we have to trust and work
with each
other, despite what may have happened in the past. We can either
cut
ourselves off so as to not risk anything, but not gain anything,
or we
can live with risk and connect with our membership on a much
deeper and
more relevant level.

It would be
more relevant for the people following instead of intimate personal
profiles and
sending a friend request. I don’t think we should require that the
Staff or the
Libertarian Party own the page as an asset, it should be up to the
representati
