We should be better. And I’ve looked into this and it’s a huge
misunderstanding that we are too damned proud to own.

Call it karma or justice, but we certainly have set ourselves to be
deservedly shat upon.

The Golden Rule is still a thing.

I’m here for Liberty with a heart. People first. Relationship builders.
We failed here.

Relationship
   builders. We failed here.

Personally it was meh. Were we great? No, but neither was he. It
was business. He made a very high cost proposal. By the time of this
meeting he knew we were going to say no, everyone did, I know he did
because several people told his rep exactly that. The opportunity was
there to table. He chose to push his luck.
My example about the corvette is a very common example across both
business and personal purchases. "Oh we love it!" ..."Wait you said
how much" ... "Whispers amongst selves 'that's way to much, we are way
to far apart to waste time negotiating'"... "We're gonna pass". Happens
every day. If the last stage even happens. Most people don't get even
that, they just don't get a return call. I've been on both sides of
that scenario for 30ish years. Nothing unusual or shitty about it.

No John nothing you mentioned is what I am talking about.
   I’m talking about our behavior.
   I’m not talking about money.
I’m not talking about whether his idea is worthwhile.
I’m talking about the shitty way we acted.
   Relationships matter.

Nope Caryn Ann. Just several people do not agree with it.
I see both sides and point out things on both.
It is a good idea. I spoke highly of it in Phoenix. I thought the ask
was a bit high, but honestly thought he was spitballing and his real
proposal would be somewhat lower. Then I talked to people I know who
make a living in marketing on local and national levels. As I said in
our off list discussion they came back with a substantially lower
number for what they would charge for a similar offer.
Just because I like and really want that corvette for sale out there
does not mean I am not going to check blue book on it before I drop
cash on it, and if book value is substantially lower I may not come
back knowing we are too far apart.
I also agreed with you that asking what was going on with it was
reasonable because apparently last time there was some confusion and
some info we did not all have, tho I do not think it would have changed
   the outcome.
I like his idea. I would love to pursue it further. After due
diligence at about 1/10 of his ask. Unless he DRAMATICALLY increases
his amount of consulting hours. Also after we get our ducks in a row
   budget wise.
We rail against Ds and Rs deficit spending, I for one am not going to
be a hypocrite and support a deficit budget. Especially for that, if I
was I would have pushed it elsewhere anyway, like ballot access or
keeping at least 2 more great employees at full time.
While yes this is branding, it also falls deep into candidate support,
so maybe fundraising that to help?
Also, I was led to believe that his team had leads on people willing to
donate to fund it - part of the reason I misunderstood their desire to
table it - if that is the case perhaps we need to let them do that
before we reconsider the project. If they showed up with 30k worth of
committed donors that would change a lot of minds.

        I agree with Ms. Bilyeu.
I'll add that we are nearly $100,000 behind on bills, so my
     preference
is that we not pursue supplemental expenses or staff activity
directives that are not fundraising related, at least until our
     bill
backlog is stabilized. All new initiatives involve some amount of
     risk
and I personally prefer we be risk-averse until we are no longer
     doing
the equivalent of putting the electric bill into the water
     company
        envelope each month.
Marketing initiatives are at best indirectly related to
     fundraising,
and it's hard for me to see how this campaign will generate more
revenue than its costs (both dollar and staff time) in the near
     future
even if the costs are minimal. If we have $40,000 to burn let's
     hire
another full time fundraiser to work the phones.

efforts, that is very irresponsible but the only person
          charged
               to do
that from this body is Nick and I trust he has done
     what he
          has
               been
charged with. I also trust that he hasn't gotten
     responses
          which
               is why
nothing else has come before the body.
I am very open and willing to discuss other proposals
     he
          brings
               forth,
however, at this time, there is nothing on the table.
