[Lnc-business] Fwd: Resolution against the Wall

Disagree. Don't disagree that it should be, but disagree with that interpretation of the actual wording. Unreasonable is vague and means different things to different people. If it read "without constraint" you would be correct. Leaving Unreasonable in means there is some.
We could take that last line and change it to read something like:
"The LP holds that any concerns related to the border, valid or otherwise, are better addressed by removing the root causes of those concerns. Actions such as ending the War on Drugs, decriminalization of all victimless crimes, ending the welfare state, allowing free trade and free markets would all not only address those concerns, but do so in a budget positive way rather than costing billions".
Then we are 100% platform compliant, with no questions over interpretation, and cover all the bases WITHOUT creating unnecessary issues. Then forward the borders question to the platform committee.
Without such a change I will not support it as I believe the current wording oversteps our authority, despite how much I might agree with it personally.

Unreasonably constrained is open. It means only constrained for actual aggression which is a given. We already put out an article in LP News stating it as open borders.
If the current plank isn’t open borders it conflicts with the SoP which per bylaws is impermissible (THOSE are the rules).
I co-sponsor as is just substituting LNC instead of state affiliate where appropriate.

Nor should we make statements that change the platform. That is why we
have a procedure for that at convention. The current platform says
unreasonably constrained, not open borders.
Not saying I would object to changing it at convention, but after
having hammered into my head by you and others that sometimes there are
reasons for these procedures, I becoming more reluctant to say fuck the
rules in these cases.
I have made many anti-wall statements. Happy to make another, but let's
do it right.

everyone would agree with. The only question is - is it Libertarian and in
line with the SoP.

Disagree. Don't disagree that it should be, but disagree with that

We could take that last line and change it to read something like:

Then we are 100% platform compliant, with no questions over
interpretation, and cover all the bases WITHOUT creating unnecessary
issues. Then forward the borders question to the platform committee.
Without such a change I will not support it as I believe the current
wording oversteps our authority, despite how much I might agree with it
