Dear colleagues:
I hope all is well with you. I am writing to provide some
information regarding the search process for the position of executive
director. I apologize that I was unable to respond yesterday; I was
busy with various faculty matters in advance of my flight to Mexico City
yesterday afternoon. (I shall have the honor of addressing the
LibertyCon Latin America event tomorrow.)
The deadline for submission of applications was Feb. 14. At Nick
Sarwark's request, Joe Bishop-Henchman, Bill Redpath, and I reviewed the
35 applications in order to provide him (Mr. Sarwark) with the group of
candidates we considered the best qualified for the position. Last
Sunday (Feb. 17) I sent Mr. Sarwark the list of those candidates.
On Tuesday (Feb. 19), Mr. Sarwark asked whether Mr.
Bishop-Henchman, Mr. Redpath, and I would be willing to conduct
interviews with those candidates to provide him with additional
information. I indicated that I am willing to do so (I believe Mr.
Bishop-Henchman and Mr. Redpath are similarly willing), but that I would
not be able to conduct such interviews until after my return from Mexico.
It is my intention to arrange the interviews as soon as possible,
and then relay our opinions to Mr. Sarwark as soon thereafter as
possible. I hope we shall be able to provide our opinions to him no
later than Mar. 1. I assume that he will then make his decision, and
will enter into negotiations regarding a contract.
As always, thanks for your work for liberty. I hope this
information is helpful to you.
Take care,
Jim

P.S.: I experienced some difficulty regarding an internet connection
yesterday and earlier this morning; I don't know whether the problem
will recur. Thus, I may not be able to respond promptly to messages.
