[Lnc-business] LP Presidential Debates c/o Arvin Vohra

I think there are some tweaks to be made to Mr. Vohra's proposal. We should certainly promote any campaign media we can, as long as it's impartial. By setting some clear guidelines for what we will promote (the inclusion of all candidates) will encourage the outlets who want to get a bump from our platform to attempt to reach those standards. On the other hand, there's no way of counting all the "announced" candidates or ensuring they are serious and in line with Libertarian platforms. I could announce seeking an LP Nom today and declare taxation is the price we pay to live in a society, and demand to be included in debates just to troll and embarrass. So there are some obvious pitfalls here, though it is a well-intentioned idea. I think it should be workshopped a little, but as with our experiments in alternative voting, we should explore how we commission internal debates and use it to better develop arguments for debates inclusion.
Very Respectfully,
Jeff Lyons

I will cosponsor to hear more but my vote is undecided.
I can see arguments on both sides, however, I think the key piece of
information that seems to be confused is that this would only require us to
upload files of debates after they were complete and in decent quality
provided the could verify that the debate was open and fair. This doesn't
require much more than an upload of a media file after debates happen and
allows for delegates to have a one stop shop to easily view or hear various
debates prior to our convention. There is no endorsement piece.
What am I missing?
