I think the impression here is that the LNC would be mandating standards on what would be published on our site. The question for those entities sponsoring debates is, do they care whether we publish them? 




Setting that aside, because of the subjectivity of the standards Arvin proposes and the wide array of situations in which debates are held or sponsored, I'm against. Delegates can get the information about candidates however they choose. There is plenty of opportunity.

I’m going to say something I rarely say because too many people, contrary to our bylaws, say this is our only purpose—-  aren’t we hear to elect candidates?  
Are we seriously arguing that having a link storehouse of debates for our top of ticket nomination is wasting staff time????
I think we forget the purpose of conventions.  It’s not themes, speakers, and locations.  It’s for delegates to consider amendments to our governing docs, elect national committee, and every other convention to choose our top ticket candidates.
How do delegates intelligently pick candidates?  One would hope debates are a big part instead of just whatever barely one foot out of the Republican Party exploiter tells us.

I concurr with Sam. I understand and agree with the spirit if Arvin's request, and if and when we decide to sponsor "official" debates I would consider this request reasonable. But I will oppose trying to regulate a bunch of independent podcasts.
