Colleagues on the LNC,
I write to you today to give you all an update on the search for a new
Region 1 Alternate following Mr. Bowden's resignation:
The results of the ballot to elect a new Regional Alternate are now
available. In addition to this email, they should be available by following
the LINK <https://www.opavote.com/results/4618274979446784>.
Two notes:
1) Dee, from Wyoming, indicated that Joe P. would submit the ballot for
Wyoming after the ballot began. I sent him a link to vote yesterday after
being informed, however, he did not vote.
2) Alaska emailed me their vote but I requested that the vote be completed
on OpaVote. Jon did not submit a ballot for Alask on OpaVote, however, if
the emailed ballot was taken into consideration, the results would not have
changed.
Results:
According to our Regional Agreement, a majority (6) are required to elect
the new alternate, regardless of number of ballots received.
7 ballots were submitted by State Chairs or the their designees.
I show votes have been submitted for: AZ, CO, KS, MT, NM, OR, WA
Missing ballots: AK*, HI, UT, WY
Vote Totals:
Johnny Adams (AZ) - 3 Votes*
Richard Patrick Burke (OR) - 0 Votes
Jeff Daniels (AZ) - 1 Vote
A Blair Dunn (NM) - 1 Vote
Drew A. Layda (OR) - 4 Votes
Mic Mac - McFarland, Michael (AZ) - 3 Votes
Eric Mulder (CO) - 0 Votes
Olivi, Jim (AZ) - 0 Votes
James Treibert (CO) - 0 Votes
None of the Above - 0 Votes
*Alaska's vote would have given Johnny Adams 4 Votes, total.
Because a majority of state chairs (6) did not elect any of the candidates,
we will proceed with a runoff. For our next ballot, I will remove all
applicants who did not receive any votes in round one.
The new ballot will be available for one week beginning on April 2nd at
12:01 HST and will end April 9 at 23:59 HST. The ballot will be sent to all
state chairs via OpaVote once the vote begins. During this time, I
encouraged all remaining candidates to reach out to the state chairs to
further share what their thoughts are regarding the region and how they
intend to help it grow if elected.
I have already emailed all of the state chairs and applicants this
information and shared on social media.
