[Lnc-business] BALLOT 190423-1 Resolution in Opposition to Conversion Therapy (Alt Language)

I vote no.

I mean no disrespect for people who had truly abusive childhood
experiences, whether at the hand of a third party institution or at the
direct hand of their own immediate families.

I am not willing to spend much time parsing wording (such as X has its
roots in unethical treatments, therefore it's fraudulent), but our platform
already very clearly says we're against abuse of children, fraud, torture,
etc. There's a current news story about the Turpin parents being sentenced
for horrific abuse of 12 of their 13 children, but we don't need a
resolution about that, either. Our platform already opposes these things,
and look how much email traffic this generated...representing a lot of time
for both the writers and the readers.

I am gearing up for a summer petition drive to qualify 5 city initiatives
for the 2020 election ballot. I'm trying to finish up my feedback for the
LNC minutes. And I vote for very few resolutions because I wish to
discourage us from spending our valuable time writing more of them.
