Colleagues,
I look forward to seeing everyone in Miami this weekend, but ahead of
the meeting I would like to share my opinions and endorsements of
several applicants for the Platform Committee.
Andrew Olding of New Hampshire -
I've had the pleasure of working alongside Mr. Olding the past few years
in New Hampshire, on partisan campaigns, as well as local outreach
projects in our Home City, and grown to appreciate his work ethic and
dedication to the tasks he commits to. He replaced me on the LPNH
Platform Committee when I chose to pass on the reigns after 2 terms
myself, and has shown a dedication to working with all factions to find
common ground working towards principled solutions. One of the Strongest
examples I've seen of his bridge building abilities was when Our home
city of Nashua was considering a city ordinance to raise the smoking age
to 21, Mr. Olding organized a massive effort to pressure the board of
alderman into reconsidering the position, including a coalition that
while led by Libertarians, was filled out with prominent figures in the
local republican and democratic parties, as well as a number of local
business owners, recruited by Andrew to join together and oppose the
change in Law. Since this successful effort he has continued to work
doing outreach towards local businesses in New Hampshire, getting them
involved with Libertarian messaging, and some even involved with the
Party going so far as sponsoring our last convention in thanks to his
efforts to help their businesses fight regulations.
Mike Seebeck of Colorado -
Having Served on the 2018 Platform Committee, Many were put off by Mr.
Seebeck's enthusiasm for constant and continuous emails to our working
group, however, it was his early enthusiasm that resulted in
conversations that led to the most easily passed proposals the committee
considered, as he worked tirelessly to find consensus among all factions
on the committee. I believe that his work carried a lot of the weight of
the committee in 2018, and I will be supporting him for appointment to
the 2020 committee based on these experiences.
Chris Gannon of Maryland -
Of the applicants I've gotten the chance to speak to, Mr. Gannon was the
one with the clearest picture of specific changes he wanted to present
to the platform, to address things that the Libertarian Party has missed
the chance to lead on with Libertarian Positions. Mr. Gannon wants to
present a focus on family law, and the separation of the state and the
family unit as a part of the LP Platform, and I believe that this is an
issue that is growing in cultural importance, and it's important for the
LP to get out ahead of the major parties in providing solutions. Mr
Gannons positions are well reasoned, thoroughly researched, and
principled at their core. I believe he would be a fantastic Asset to the
2020 Platform Committee.
Thank you all for considering these recommendations, and again, I look
forward to a productive weekend in Miami, especially since we got our
first Freeze in new Hampshire this week and Winter is finally rearing
it's head.
