To be clear the Colorado election will be afresh without regard to the
convention. A brand new slate of applicants was sought. There were very
few applicants at convention (4 iirc). There are many more this time around.
In any event, it is traditional to resign an alternate seat to allow
another person to fill. Ms. Mattson is presently the California alternate
and said she would resign that seat and allow CA to appoint someone else.
An alternate seat (there can an unlimited number of alternates) is not the
same as an appointment which is why Ms Mattson would resign an alt and if I
had been CO alternate I would do the same as Ms Mattson.
However as stated, CO voided their election. Having the board appoint us
not without controversy and it’s unclear to me if that will stand. I think
the bylaws allow that result but I expect if the primary is not the same as
at convention, it will be challenged - with a very slight chance CO may
decide to not appoint.
