Folks, allow me to clarify my position. It is not on the content but the
vehicle. Nick did nothing wrong. The content I do not have a problem with
at all. I would actually love to see us regularly call for impeachment
within a president's first year. I just didn't appreciate the surprise
backlash in my Region and would have appreciated a heads up that the social
media post was coming. Impeachment is very timely and very appropriate to
talk about right now given the media cycle and upcoming vote, however, as
such, we representatives should know when topics of controversy may be
breached so that we aren't caught off guard. Let's not turn my comments
into something other than intended.
Controversial topics are not ones that draw from our platform so please do
not confuse that with what I am saying. This was different because it was
much more opinion rather than referencing a platform point in a meme. I
choke this up to one of our growing pains as we become a bigger, badder
party that is taken seriously.
I am glad procedure was followed and that was my biggest concern since it
at first appeared to me otherwise. The rest (talking with those I represent
and answering their concerns) is part of the job. Even if no heads up is
ever given in the future, me expressing how I would have appreciated it is
just that.
