I had not heard from Ms. Mattson as she is busy with both the state and
assisting the bylaws committee, but attached is the screenshot of the
language that was approved to be included at our last meeting. I
previously explained that Nuance had scrambled several versions of my
report - in the version that gets posted, the screenshotted paragraph is
what will be in the Secretary's report.

I would never disrespect Ms. Mattson so as to change the language approved
upon. Further, that would be HIGHLY unethical. I know that Ms. Mattson
voted no even on the revised language, so I fully expected a no vote on the
minutes, but she can be assured, the language the LNC approved will be the
published language.

I would ask Ms. Mattson to be a bit more charitable rather than thinking
anyone is sneaky, but I understand that having to deal with the state
causes frayed nerves, so I am sure that is what caused that bit of
unkindness.

If there is a scrivener's issue with a timestamp, I am sure the committee
has no issue with that technical correction. Ms. Mattson, I have found
errors in your corrections - specifically in your last list of corrections
in which you misspelled Cara's last name. I did not say to you at the
time, "I have incorporated your changes except your name misspelling."
Why? That would be hurtful nitpicking. You are not a robot, and I
understood fully what you meant. I do feel however, you do not show me the
same courtesy at times. You do not have to. But I would appreciate it if
you would.

I would like to address your comment about multiple versions because
although I am sure you did not mean it as a denigration of my abilities,
outsiders met get the wrong impression. When I receive lists of changes I
have two choices. I can wait until they all come in, which can span
several weeks or I can make them immediately so that people who have yet to
review don't have to include them if they see them. Dr. Lark always sends
me corrections first, and he always sends them off-list out of respect to
me (which I personally believe is the professional way to handle, but
others may disagree). I make them immediately. Thus V2. Mr. Hagan is
usually next because he is very eager to win one of the prizes, and
oftentimes he approaches me off-list. I then make V3. About this time a
week has passed and one person or another may have a minor change they post
on the list having not to deal with any of the issues Dr. Lark or Mr. Hagan
mentioned because I took care of them out of courtesy for future readers.
That is then usually V4. Ms. Mattson, you are usually last in your
comments, and I have no problem with that, but because of that, I have
already accommodated many other comments. If it is the LNC's pleasure, I
will make all of the changes at once causing everyone to have to reinvent
the wheel that Dr. Lark already invented so that I can have V2 only for
appearance's sake. I hope that is not the LNC's pleasure. And I hope in
the future, my desire to make less work for everyone is not inadvertently
characterized (because I know that was not Ms. Mattson's intent) to make it
seem like there are multiple versions because I walk into walls face
first. I know no one of us ever means to denigrate each other, but some
public readers might not be so charitable.

Lastly, I went back through your changes and cannot find the amendment you
refer to above. Although I strongly disagree with you on the issue of
whether or not I have the freedom to format numbers as number (number), I
honoured your request out of courtesy. I cannot change the meaning of text
submitted, but I certainly may standardize the format. For instance, no
one submits it in green text either. Or, as another example, I am not
obligated to honour a misspelling. I honoured your request out of courtesy
and respect only. I am waiting to see what happens with the Policy Manual
vote to decide if I will take a stand on this issue or not.

I thank Ms. Mattson once again for her continued tutelage. I profit
immensely from her experience as do we all.

-Caryn Ann
