[Lnc-business] Convention - seeking cosponsor

As a region representative, I would like to have some sort of a unified
message that we can put out letting people know that we are aware of the
issue and are planning contigencies if the venue is cancelled. Right now,
aside from my one on one talks, I would not have any idea about what is
happening or what to tell people.

If you don't want an electronic meeting, that's fine. What is indisputable
is that our convention attendees do not know for sure if we are having a
convention at all (obviously we are) or that back up plans are being made
just in case (which they are but due to contractual reasons, cannot be
broadcast or officially setup until X happens). They also don't fully
comprehend why we would put people at risk and not figure out a way to do
it all remotely (against our rules and logistically a nightmare).

A statement or talking points need to be communicated to the LNC as a whole
so that we are consistent with our message and so that the members of this
committee are all on the same page before this gets worse (or better). I
think the best medium for that is discussion and a report from the COC
chair via electronic meeting. This body cannot effectively govern if it
doesn't know what the facts actually are.

As an aside, if I have states in my regions calling emergency meetings to
discuss options I think we should at the least do the same. I've already
had WY reschedule and CO and WA are having emergency calls tomorrow to
discuss. The LNC is coming off as burying its head in the sand even though
I know that is not the case at all.

By my count we have 5 cosponsors at this point. Is there at least one other
person who supports scheduling a meeting for 10 days from now so that we
can say something? I would add that 10 days from now we may actually NEED
to have a meeting if things get worse and that if it is scheduled, we can
always cancel if the need resolves itself.
