The Convention Oversight Committee has requested a LNC Electronic
Meeting to be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Noon EDT via Zoom, for
the purpose of reviewing contingencies for the 2020 Libertarian Party
National Convention, and for considering motions for changes to the
current convention plans.
On April 7, 2020 the COC received an actual response from the Austin JW
Marriott for the first time in over three weeks, and we will continue
discussions with the venue about the feasibility of the convention being
held there per the current contract. However, the current Texas and
Austin restrictions on social distancing and "stay at home" orders
expire on or about May 1, 2020 and could very well be extended beyond
that time. Texas also has severe travel restrictions, and 14-day
quarantine requirements on persons arriving from certain cities and
states, and those restrictions have no expiration date. Many states also
have travel restrictions and/or stay at home orders that currently have
expiration dates in late May or early June.
For the above reasons the COC has been working on several contingencies
for resolving the status of the convention which is required by our
Bylaws to be held no later than August of 2020. The Committee plans to
provide the LNC a confidential contingency document no later than 5 days
prior to May 2nd which will outline the Committee's recommendations to
the LNC. Since this document will contain legal and contractual
information it will be marked Confidential and will be provided only to
LNC members with a NDA on file.
The following LNC members of the COC join in the call for this meeting
and we seek additional members to join in the call:

Whitney Bilyeu
