<div dir="ltr"><div>Norm, while it pains me to have to defend a newspaper like the Denver Post, that is really not an unreasonable limitation. At an average of 6 characters per word (including spaces), 300 characters represents 50 words. There are 12 questions, so that's up to 600 words for each candidate's total response to the questionnaire. A typical op-ed in a newspaper runs between 500 and 750 words, which means the newspaper is giving space to each candidate equivalent to an op-ed article. Assuming there are a number of candidates, that's consuming a significant amount of real estate on a newspaper's pages.
