I am honestly not sure what could possibly have been obscure about my last email, but I shall attempt to explain it, line by line.
Once upon a time, the LNC brought in two or three million dollars a year. This year, we are likely to bring in rather less, which I view as undesirable. [Yes, I have noted that the Greens and Constitutionalists bring in less. The Greens shot themselves in the knees by saying they would not contest states that Democrats might lose; the Constitution party bottomed out and seems in general to be slowly recovering.
"Receipts are the amount of money that the LNC receives from donors. There is a historical record of this as far back as 1993. The first half year of that included the organizational period, but for the second half of 1993 we raised $447,000, an average of not quite $75,000 a month. Our receipts for May were:
That's how much the LNC brought in. That's about as low as any month I offhand remember.
$90,110.23 is how much money the LNC spent in May.
$41,566 is the financial reserves of the LNC at the end of May.
Those of you who work for a living, are living on Social Security, or are successful investors may recognize the income-outgo-cash balance issue.
I believe this is an accurate report of what Secretary Matson said, and in my opinion she hit the nail square on the head.
To be precise, the estimate calls for paying for exactly 10,000 signatures. However, the signature requirement is 10,000 valid, so there is no safety margin here, let alone a margin for bad signatures. If one of our candidates proposed to collect exactly enough signatures, we would suggest an alternative approach.
The remainder of the Redpath remarks will be answered separately.

For the past several (at least three) presidential elections, even though the Libertarian Party of Virginia faced a 10,000 valid signature petition drive to put our Presidential ticket on the ballot, it was accomplished with no expenditure from the LNC.

I wish I could say the same for the Libertarian Party of Massachusetts, which also faced 10,000 valid signature petition drives. I think, on average, each of those petition drives cost the LNC about $25,000, because of a lack of volunteer and paid signatures handled by the LPMA. That is part of the reason why the LNC financial position is so bad.

In each of the LPVA petition drives, I pledged 500 volunteer signatures, and actually did more. Will you pledge and gather at least 500 gross signatures in the upcoming LPMA petition drive to help ease the financial burden on LNC? Or, at least contribute the money to the LPMA to pay for those signatures? Will you recruit other LPMA members to do the same?
