<div dir="ltr">Thanks to Robert and Carla for the food and drink, and to Robert for this speedy reply. It sounds like we cleared between 600 and 700 for the building, and other 400(? - not sure of the cost of the shirts) for general funds. If we had to pay for the items donated, I'd guess they'd be around 200-300? I agree we should repeat it annually, so long as that trend continues. We made money, which is great; $300 or even $600 (if the donations continue each year) is not going to pay off the building, but it certainly helps (as does every dollar, of course.) However, the big draw for me is that, so long as we aren't losing money on these events, they open the door, so to speak, for a large donation to come in. If we did it every year, and one out of every 5 years we got a large donation, it would be worth it.<div><br></div><div>More importantly, it opens up HQ to our local members (or others if they travel in.) It brings the LNC in contact with one of the more influential political markets in the country. It inspires me to wear a beautiful outfit, complete with white bucks. </div><div><br></div><div>I might recommend, in the future, trying to get the DC press corps to show up. It's a Saturday night, and in a non-presidential year it won't be campaign season yet for them - especially in an odd year. Reporters like food. They'll see us dressed nicely, doing something other than having a meeting, and there will be substantive speeches (we can add something less fundraiser-ish if we know they're coming, maybe something from an elected official speaking on policy, or else from the Chair on an issue of national attention at the time.) They might write something dismissive (Political Nerds Gather to Talk About Being Nerds and Why They Don't Win), but that seems rather unlikely. </div><div><br></div><div>Anyway, thanks for the report. I'm glad this year's performance was so much stronger than last year, and that my outfit was well received. (Robert's report didn't address my outfit, but it also did not challenge my statement, so I'll take that as agreement.)</div><div><br></div><div>Joshua Katz</div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br clear="all"><div><div class="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr">Joshua A.
