I probably should have included a link for donations to the Povertarian Empowerment Fund so that it's available on the public list should you choose to forward it with my original message. Here it is:<br><br><div>https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=2GLB6V5Y775CA</div><div><br></div><div>Individuals are welcome to make one-time or recurring donations, and if they want that gift to be specifically earmarked for this effort they may send a note to povertarians@gmail.com and I'll be sure to allocate accordingly.</div><div><br></div><div class="mb_sig"><div>--</div><div>Mike Shipley</div><div>Phoenix, AZ</div><div><br></div><div>"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any."</div></div><blockquote class="history_container" type="cite" style="border-left-style:solid;border-width:1px; margin-top:20px; margin-left:0px;padding-left:10px;">

Things like floor fees, mandatory dues, and any other financial barrier with the potential to disenfranchise people currently holding or who may consider running for these roles in the future.</div><div><br></div><div>It would be a shame if the existence of Povertarians in leadership roles could easily be cast as an obstruction because they were unable to commit to a minimum donation given the already high cost of the travel involved. There is a precedent for such talking points to be raised in the past, indeed our caucus is named after the term was used as a slur on the 2012-14 LNC. In a time when so many (dare I say, 99%) of the population are questions about fiscal policy to which Libertarians have the best answers, it's time for us to exemplify how our ideas benefit everyday people, and stop modeling behaviors that mimic the elitism of the old parties which has proven itself so harmful.</div><div><br></div><div>You may know that somewhere in the LNC budget there once had been established a fund in a similar spirit, however it has languished unattended and inaccessible by any convenient means should it have been funded (which it was not, beyond a token sum). I do not know the exact current balance of this fund but if whatever is in the fund currently were distributed evenly over the next 24 months into a pool raised on your behalf, it seems the multiplying effect would be a wise investment for the LNC.</div><div><br></div><div>Regarding the Povertarian Empowerment Fund itself, I have pledged $10 monthly to this fund, $5 of which I would earmark directly toward empowering you with the ability to leverage M Carling's generous offer while still maintaining your credibility as a strong voice for grassroots empowerment. I have placed a note in our Facebook discussion group to see if other members would also be interested in earmarking toward this effort. I will let you know what we come up with. As of now you can report a firm commitment of $5.</div><div><br></div><div>Thank you again for standing up for everyday people ...
