I have been encouraging the Nebraska LPNE folks to self-fund all projects and limit contributions from the main LPNE budget to small symbolic seed money contributions coupled with enthusiastic logistical and inspirational support.

Few of us like fund raising but the reality is that if we abdicate our fund-raising responsibilities at the grass-roots level, we are leaving it up to higher fund-raising levels to pay for what we want. And, of course, the ultimate high level fund-raising method that we are fighting against is government taxation that robs from all of us. We need to keep Libertarian project fund-raising at the grass-roots level where it belongs.

That being said, I think it is clearly in the self-interest of the LNC to provide limited contributions as a symbolic show of support for the grass-roots activism that is the foundation for our LP and LNC pursuit of Liberty.

~David Pratt Demarest

Region 6 Representative, Libertarian National Committee

From: Lnc-business [mailto:lnc-business-bounces@hq.lp.org] On Behalf Of Alicia Mattson
Sent: Thursday, June 30, 2016 1:51 AM
To: lnc-business <lnc-business@lp.org>
Subject: Re: [Lnc-business] Email Ballot 2016-01: Riot Fest

I vote no.

Even if I were convinced that this event attracted lots of likely voters and that we would probably get lots of high-quality prospects from it, I think the dollar amount should not exceed the $300 difference between the $1100 total and the $800 the state affiliate encumbered.

Perhaps the number $600 was picked just because the LNC is perceived to be the deeper pocket and the extra will ease affiliate budget concerns, but we have our own budget limitations especially in a presidential election year and shouldn't be viewed as a sugar daddy.
