<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
As you may know from Mr. Longstreth's previous communications and the
<br>
information put out on social media, I have assumed the role of Region 1
<br>
Alternate to the Libertarian National Committee. If you have not seen those
<br>
communications, please allow me the privilege of saying that I am honored to
<br>
have been chosen by the state chairs of Region 1 to hold this position for
<br>
the next 5 months until our convention in Austin. Over that time, I am
<br>
looking forward to a positive working relationship with the other members of
<br>
the LNC to help define and achieve the goals of the Libertarian Party. After
<br>
all, we are all in this together despite any struggles that our
<br>
personalities may introduce.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
I do, however, wish to inform and manage expectations on how I will be
<br>
interacting with the LNC in regards to debate, motions, and business
<br>
proceeding. Chiefly, I understand that Regional Alternates are not full
<br>
voting members of the LNC, and serve as a backup to the regional
<br>
representatives. With this in mind I intend to mitigate the time demands of
<br>
the committee by refraining from public debate and voting on all topics,
<br>
with some notable exceptions:
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
1. I will discuss my views privately with Mr. Longstreth on all
<br>
substantive matters.
<br>
2. I will provide a personal analysis of matters to any LNC member who
<br>
requests my opinion.
<br>
3. I will fully participate in debate and voting should the Region 1
<br>
Representative recuse himself (not abstain) from a vote.
<br>
4. I will maintain decorum, professionalism, and civility in my written
<br>
communications to this body at all times.
<br>
5. I will not personally nor publicly attack any member of this body
<br>
for any reason, to include internal elections.
<br>
6. Should I have personal disagreements with members of this committee,
<br>
I will make every effort to communicate with and resolve those issues
<br>
privately.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
These are the standards that I will be operating under during my tenure as
<br>
the Region 1 Alternate, and I felt it prudent to inform this committee of my
<br>
intent. What I do intend for the remainder of my term is to strategize and
<br>
assist the 11 states in Region 1 in their 2020 election efforts, consult
<br>
with the chairs on possible organizational adjustments to affiliate's
<br>
processes, and to redraft the regional agreement. None of these goals are
<br>
directly related to the business of this body, and thusly will largely be
<br>
invisible to the public eye. If any of the members of this committee take
<br>
issue with my approach, I encourage you to contact me directly.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
In closing, I wish everyone Happy Holidays, and a productive new year. I
<br>
look forward to meeting many of you in person in Reno. Thank you all for
<br>
your time.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Best Regards,
<br>
<br>
