<br>
COC. We get legal counsel review. The LNC does not typically approve the
<br>
contract. That is not part of the usual process. It wasn't part of the
<br>
process when this LNC chose Reno for 2022 and D.C. for 2024. This time COC
<br>
has chosen to expand the number of eyes on it and share the contract with
<br>
the LNC because of all the political games being played.
<br>
<br>
All:
<br>
<br>
I'm going to do another hard read of the contract and our legal counsel's
<br>
comments before the COC meeting tonight.
<br>
<br>
I know some have been trying to use scare tactics to manipulate the
<br>
delegates with fears about financial risk, etc.
<br>
<br>
When there is a clause that says our food & beverage requirement is $X, it
<br>
is the legal counsel's job to say, "I want to draw your attention to this
<br>
item, which is a financial risk." He isn't opining about whether it's a
<br>
reasonable number in the circumstances. That's for the COC to evaluate,
<br>
and we have. Our counsel is making sure we are aware of it. And we are.
<br>
And the number in this contract is very comfortable to the COC. It is
<br>
WAAAAY lower than the number in a typical convention contract. Same thing
<br>
with room block attrition. Yes, it is a non-zero risk, but the COC has
<br>
discussed it in the context of potential low-turnout due to COVID-19, in
<br>
context of historical numbers, and we're very comfortable that we can meet
<br>
these requirements. When someone portray's counsel's highlight of the
<br>
number to say, "there are concerns" well that's not really a fair
<br>
representation.
<br>
<br>
People are too willing to fan the flames of hysteria without the underlying
<br>
facts. The facts will be up for discussion on the COC meeting tonight.
<br>
We'll show you historical comparison data. Then let's get on with it
<br>
because it's only 45 days until the convention needs to call to order in
<br>
Orlando.
