Dear colleagues:
I hope all is well with you. I am writing in my capacity as
Secretary Pro Tem to provide you with an update about Mark Hinkle's
first motion (moved by Geoff Neale) concerning the purchase of a building.
1) I have enclosed below a list of the votes cast so far. In addition,
I have enclosed below a list of the voters and the dates on which they
cast votes. Please review both lists; please let me know if you find
any errors. In particular, if you have voted and your vote has not been
recorded (or has been recorded incorrectly), please send me your vote
and forward to me previous messages in which you cast your vote.
As of this moment, the vote totals are as follows (listed in
alphabetical order of surname):
Ayes (6): Cloud, Hinkle, Kirkland, Myers, Redpath, Vohra
Nays (7): Lark, Mack, Olsen, Starchild, Visek, Wiener, Wrights
Note: Mr. Goldstein (Region 3 alternate) voted "nay"; his vote is
superseded by the "nay" vote of Ms. Mack. Dr. Lieberman (Region 4
alternate) voted "nay"; I believe his vote is superseded by the "nay"
vote of Mr. Wiener. (Mr. Wiener should confirm whether his vote does
indeed supersede Dr. Lieberman's vote.) Mr. Frankel (Region 7
alternate) voted "aye"; his vote is superseded by the aye vote of Mr. Myers.
2) The voting period closes as of 9:30 p.m. EST this evening (Thursday,
Jan. 24). If you wish to vote and have not done so, or if you wish to
change your vote, please send your vote to me (and the LNC-Business
list) prior to 9:30 p.m. EST this evening.
3) Please note that votes submitted to the Secretary are not supposed
to contain arguments concerning the motion. Specifically, Section 1.04
(Electronic Mail Ballot Procedures) of the LNC Policy Manual reads as
follows:
Electronic mail ballots shall not include an accompanying argument for
or against passage of the motion. Notification of an electronic mail
ballot shall be made by the Secretary by electronic mail. An LNC Member
may change his or her vote on an electronic mail ballot, provided that
the change is received by the Secretary by the deadline for return of
ballots.
4) I am planning to attend the Va. Tech - University of Virginia men's
basketball game in Blacksburg this evening. Thus, I shall not be able
to announce the result of the vote until sometime tomorrow (Friday, Jan.
25).
As always, thanks for your work for liberty. Please do not
hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance to you.
Take care,
Jim
