[Lnc-business] Update: E-MAIL BALLOT: Hinkle motion to purchase a building

Dan,

I was not aware that Scott is a second alternate for a regional representative from one state (Nevada) and alternate from another state (New York), while simultaneously serving as an alternate for a representative from yet another state (yourself from California).

Even if that odd arrangement is proper -- perhaps you or someone else can cite language confirming this, for the record? -- it seems dubious to me that it would be proper for Scott to vote on mail ballots in his second alternate capacity. Second alternates are not listed on the LNC page on LP.org ( http://www.lp.org/lnc-leadership ) and have not, to my knowledge, been allowed to participate on the LNC email lists. If they can't participate on these lists, then they would normally have no way of voting in email ballots posted to these lists, and thus for Scott to vote as a second alternate would be taking advantage of the list access he enjoys due to his position as an alternate, an advantage not available to other second alternates.

As reflected in Jim Lark's very helpfully detailed documentation below (thank you, Jim!), I happen to agree with the vote that Scott cast on this motion, but I do want to make sure that we are conducting our affairs in a fair and equitable manner. If Scott is allowed to vote as a second alternate in cases where neither Brett Pojunis nor Audrey Capozzi cast a vote, then it seems to me that other LNC second alternates should also be allowed to subscribe to and participate on the LNC lists, and vote in cases where they may be similarly eligible to do so.

Love & Liberty,
                                   ((( starchild )))
At-Large Representative, Libertarian National Committee

However, he also serves as Brett Pojunis' second alternate. Therefore, if neither Brett nor Audrey Capozzi end up casting a vote, Dr. Lieberman's vote will count along with mine.

Please review both lists; please let me know if you find any errors. In particular, if you have voted and your vote has not been recorded (or has been recorded incorrectly), please send me your vote and forward to me previous messages in which you cast your vote.

Dr. Lieberman (Region 4 alternate) voted "nay"; I believe his vote is superseded by the "nay" vote of Mr. Wiener. (Mr. Wiener should confirm whether his vote does indeed supersede Dr. Lieberman's vote.) Mr. Frankel (Region 7 alternate) voted "aye"; his vote is superseded by the aye vote of Mr. Myers.
