Thank you Nick for making a difficult but wise decision. Our goal of electing libertarians to high offices is not so important that we should risk deficit spending to have a poor chance at getting a good candidate on a ballot that he was likely to lose.

Subject: [Lnc-business] Update on New Hampshire for the LNC

All,
The Executive Committee met 7/24 to authorize spending up to $9900 to
backstop a petitioning campaign to put Gardner Goldsmith on the ballot
for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire. The total cost of the drive was
estimated as $15,000 by a petition contractor in Massachusetts.

The next morning, Mr. Goldsmith contacted the contractor to get
started and ensure that he was "highly confident" that it could be
completed by the August 6 deadline. He indicated that he could not do
so in the time remaining, though if he had another week, it would be
possible.

Rather than spend donors' money on a drive we're not "highly
confident" can succeed, we are not going forward with the drive.

Thank you to everyone who scrambled to try to make this a success on
such short notice.

-Nick
