I know that some of our members object to us having our National Conventions
in hotels where the room rate

is greater than $40 per night.

Here is an excerpt from the Hawaii section of the "Affiliate News and
Events" column in the Dec 2105 LP News:

"Problematic.in Hawaii is the separation of counties by sections of the
Pacific Ocean. The [State Convention] took place

at the Ala Moana Hotel. It is a more expensive venue than those used
recently, but provides more space, parking, and generally a more
professional feel. Image is important in gathering support, funding, and
press attention."

I will add that the room rate for the Rosen Centre, the site of our 2016
National Convention, is well below the average room rate for hotels in the
USA.

(from April to October in 2015 the average rate was about $123 per
night)
