I know that some of our members object to us having our National Conventions
in hotels where the room rate
is greater than $40 per night.
Here is an excerpt from the Hawaii section of the "Affiliate News and
Events" column in the Dec 2105 LP News:
"Problematic.in Hawaii is the separation of counties by sections of the
Pacific Ocean.The [State Convention] took place
at the Ala Moana Hotel.It is a more expensive venue than those used
recently, but provides more space, parking, and generally a more
professional feel. Image is important in gathering support, funding, and
press attention."
I will add that the room rate for the Rosen Centre, the site of our 2016
National Convention, is well below the average room rate for hotels in the
USA.
