It might seem like a waste of time for me to congratulate LPHQ staff for
printing one letter in LP News (the letter "R"), but that is exactly what I
am doing with this e-mail.
On page 4 of the Dec issue of LP News, there is a chart that has 2015
Libertarian Election results.
Maybe they have done this in the past, but this is the first time I have
noticed it.
The chart has a column that has two possible entries: R or P. The P
denotes a partisan election. The R denotes candidates who have been
re-elected.
I think it is very important that when we brag to our members and the media
about our electoral victories that we differentiate between newly elected
Libertarians and Elected Libertarians who were re-elected.
By showing which of our victories were re-elections, we show our members and
the media that at least some
of our Elected Libertarians are not one term wonders.
Also, that letter R lets readers figure out which percentage of our
victories were re-elections. If we are rapidly increasing our number of
elected officials, that ratio should be relatively small.
Another interesting stat would be the percentage of our Elected Libertarians
who seek re-election and win. I have no clue what the average re-election
percentage is for local elected officials, but I hope our Elected
Libertarians can meet or exceed whatever that average is.
