[Lnc-business] Stand in 2016 Pres & VP candidates

Unfortunately,  I am not planning on visiting Disneyworld (or Sea World) unless we are going to hold the LNC meeting at Snow White's Castle?.  I will be staying at the Claraton Inn which is just a few feet away from the Rosen and is $65/night, compared to the Rosen's discounted  price of  $95/night,  Of course, both of these you have to add their taxes and service fees to the room rate.
While I can afford the higher price hotels,  I do not like paying top dollar just for a bed to crash on for the night,  and in fact on Sunday will check in at an airport hotel (La Quinta) that is even cheaper,  and offers a free shuttle to the airport Monday morning which is just a few minutes away.  This also means I can return my rental car ($42 for the weekend) on Sunday as well.
While I enjoy traveling about the world,  for LNC meetings we not only have our own expenses,  but the Party has a good deal of staff expenses as well as the many hours of staff time to organize these meetings..  So,  maybe instead of our traveling circus,  we should just pick out a location (or 2) with the best air connections and cheapest meeting costs and stick with that.   I would not be adverse with just having meetings in the DC area all the time,  and use the travel money to send a National official to the various state conventions,  which would probably be a more productive use of Party money?
For the purpose of just doing a business meeting,  a $29 room at Super 20, and a seat in the local library meeting room would not bother me at all.   Disneyland vacation trips I can always do when I have more time and interest in doing so.  I do not look at LNC meetings as vacation trips.
Speaking of rental cars,  if anyone needs a free ride from the airport 10 p.m. Friday, or to the airport area Sunday,  let me know.
For what they are worth, them is my thoughts on the issue anyway.

Subject: Re: [Lnc-business] Standin 2016 Pres & VP candidates    Inregards to the printer,  I had not yet read the costs of the printer whenI replied (the problem with emails is we get the newest one first,  and wehave to read all the emails to fully understand what has taken place).  In this instance,  $11k for a printer seems overly expensive,  and Ipersonally would never have spent that much. But,  I do not know who madethat decision or why.   But even in my own organization I have had workerspiss away money for this or that tool or object because "I needed to getthe job done",  but if they had taken a few seconds to ask me, I could have handed it to them out of our shop or supplies.   Makingstupid decisions is just part of human nature.  I do think we need to lookat the entire picture.   While costly,  maybe the delux printerallowed them to double their work or it really increase our membership or cashinflow.   I am a realestate investor in real life,  and I always tellpeople I do not care how much a property costs,  I  mostly want toknow how much it will make me.  So, while costly,  if the printer ispaying for itself,  then who cares.    Speakingof costs,  one of my concerns is the high costs of these LNC meetings andalso our 2016 convention.  I also dislike seeing our DC staff tied up forweeks scheduling out an event.   I would suggest we instead put that jobonto a commercial travel agent in the DC area.  They could not onlyarrange our site, but also our transportation to the site, and probably at acheaper price then what our staff comes up with. (I am assuming of course staffis not currently using a travel agent?).   I believe our next LNC meetingis likely going to be in California ? I would therefore suggest we try using a DC travel agent for this.  My consideration for a site would be that it be at a hotel where the rooms costless then $100;   it has a free airport shuttle, and a free breakfast, anda meeting room that is reasonably priced.    Redpathmentioned a stand-in candidate for Presdient.  Actually,  if we don'tget anything better then what I have read about so far,  I would seriouslylike to see somebody like Redpath take up the torch.  Bill is cool andcollected and intelligent and besides Redpath would be a great name to have ona ballot, and certainly he would make a better debater or president thenHillary or Donald Duck.    RolandND
