According to the Rosen Center it's worth 100/day/person so in the 2016 conventions case so 400 per person. So 1000 delegates. About $400,000. If we have 4 people donate $100,000 each to our FEC allowed convention find we can have internet in the main hall this year.😳
That said without having gotten any specific competing bids for the 2018 convention, but having spoken to a friend that is a professional meeting planner in the area, $90/hr seems to be the hotel rate for labor for a/v and she seemed to think that about $50/ hr was the rate for third party firms. That labor cost was what put the A/V Guys that are doing it for $40/hr ahead of the hotel and other companies in Orlando that were charging a lot more.

I relayed to our search agent the board's interest in trying to get wi-fi in the convention hall for delegates to use. She was able to negotiate a contract clause for 2018 which says if we use the hotel's in-house A/V provider, we'll get free wi-fi for up to 600 connections in the main hall. That's a high-value concession that I thought you'd be pleased to hear. We often, but not always, use the in-house A/V company. A/V is one of the largest cost categories for our events, and it sometimes pays to shop around. Obviously for 2018, the value of the in-house wi-fi concession will have to be factored into the consideration of any competing bids from outside vendors.
