I have drafted the following for consideration to adopt by the LPWA:
RESOLUTION OF THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF WASHINGTON STATE
WE, THE ELECTED EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF WASHINGTON
STATE, DO HOLD THE FOLLOWING TRUTHS TO BE AS SELF-EVIDENT TODAY AS IN THE
TIME OF OUR FOUNDERS, THAT MEN AND WOMEN RETAIN THEIR NATURAL RIGHTS
DESPITE THE EFFORTS OF GOVERNMENTS INSTITUTED AROUND THEM, AND THAT NATURAL
RIGHTS CANNOT BE JUSTLY REVOKED. INASMUCH, AND
WHEREAS, IT IS THE NATURAL RIGHT OF THE INDIVIDUAL TO STAND IN DEFENSE OF
HIMSELF, HIS PROPERTY, AND HIS POSTERITY; AND
WHEREAS, IT IS IN FOLLOWING WITH THE NATIONAL LIBERTARIAN PLATFORM THAT
LIBERTARIANS RECOGNIZE THE INFRINGEMENT OF NATURAL RIGHTS INHERENT IN
MANDATORY RESTRICTION, REGULATION, OR MONITORING OF ARMS TRANSACTIONS; AND
WHEREAS, THE WASHINGTON STATE CONSTITUTION, ARTICLE 1 SECTION 24, REAFFIRMS
THE NATURAL RIGHT OF THE INDIVIDUAL CITIZEN TO BEAR ARMS IN DEFENSE WITHOUT
IMPAIRMENT FROM THE GOVERNMENT; AND
WHEREAS, THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION, AMENDMENT 2, REAFFIRMS THE NATURAL
RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS; AND
WHEREAS, THE INDEPENDENT COURT SYSTEM HAS UPHELD THAT THE GOVERNING
DOCUMENTS OF OUR SOCIETY ARE INTENDED TO RESTRICT THE GOVERNMENT’S ABUSES
AGAINST OUR NATURAL RIGHTS TO DEFENSE; AND
WHEREAS, THERE IS NO OPINION OF THE COURT NOR MODIFICATION TO GOVERNING
DOCUMENTS THAT HAS THE AUTHORITY TO REVOKE A NATURAL RIGHT OF AN
INDIVIDUAL; AND
WHEREAS, THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF WASHINGTON STATE RECOGNIZES THE INTENT OF
THE GOVERNMENT TO IMPAIR AND INFRINGE UPON THE NATURAL RIGHTS TO DEFENSE,
AND THE NATURAL RIGHT OF PRIVACY IN OUR INDIVIDUAL AFFAIRS;
BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF WASHINGTON STATE OPPOSES ANY
POLICY, IN ANY JURISDICTION, THAT WOULD DENY ACCESS OF THE INDIVIDUAL TO
ANY FIREARM OR AMMUNITION, AND WE AFFIRM THAT THE PLACEMENT OF ANY
INDIVIDUAL ON A GOVERNMENT WATCHLIST OR NO-FLY LIST WITHOUT DUE PROCESS IS
A VIOLATION OF THE INDIVIDUAL’S NATURAL RIGHTS AND A VIOLATION OF
CONSTITUTIONAL PROTECTIONS FROM THE GOVERNMENT, AND WE AFFIRM THAT ANY
IMPAIRMENT OF ACCESS TO ARMS AND AMMUNITION OF THE INDIVIDUAL PLACED ON
SAID WATCHLISTS IS A VIOLATION OF THE INDIVIDUAL’S NATURAL RIGHTS, WHICH
CANNOT BE JUSTLY REVOKED, AND WE DETERMINE THAT ANY SUCH USERPATION IS
DESTRUCTIVE TO THE CONSENTED PURPOSE OF THAT GOVERNMENT AND WE OPPOSE ANY
SUCH REGULATION AS AN ABUSE OF THE GOVERNMENT’S RESTIRCTED AUTHORITY TO
GOVERN.
