[Lnc-business] Salary/Contract Transparency

I think Dan's questions are spot-on. Does anyone have a hypothetical but realistic example of a contract provision with someone hired to be a Libertarian Party staffer that needs to be kept secret from our party's members?

If you come up with one, please explain why you think it would do more harm than good for that information to be made public. I cannot think of any.

Imagine in your personal life, if you were somehow barred from talking with your friends about how much you paid for things. You would miss out on all the benefits of conversations like, "You paid $300 at MegaBigHardware for that lawnmower? I got a similar one for $150 at NewDisruptiveHardware, and it comes with a more complete warranty."

Love & Liberty,
                                  ((( starchild )))

We routinely are cautious about things we don't need to be, in my opinion, but not so cautious about things that should be sensitive. We've handled items that could reasonably be considered sensitive personnel matters in open session - largely because, of course, the Policy Manual prohibits us from conducting business in executive session. On the other hand, we're careful about public information, such as salary.
