[Lnc-business] Motion:

*It would have been appreciated if these comments were made when Ken asked
for comments - as we should - before proposing. *

To answer the questions:

*This motion as proposed is entirely too cumbersome*

Policy manual changes have to be detailed. And LPedia exists and will be
moved. Right now there is zero oversight.

*possibly has unlimited financial exposure*

There is no budget associated, any monies (and right now none are
associated - the storage of documents is already being paid) would have to
be approved like anything else.

*and involves the entire LNC in voting on things that should be the purview
of the committee. Why waste the time of the entire LNC *
*by voting on the destruction of various documents? *

Because it is ultimately our responsibility to preserve our heritage and we
cannot pass that buck to a committee.

*Why should this committee not be subject to the budgetary process as are
all other committees of the LNC? *

It should and it would.

*Who is going to enforce the requirement that "all agendas, public meeting
minutes, and public records of the Party shall be made available to the
Historic Preservation Committee."?*

Who enforces the Policy Manual requirements right now about LNC agendas and
reports?

*I cannot sponsor nor would I vote in favor of this motion in the present
form. There is probably a need for a Historic Preservation Committee but,
as written, the effort would take an extraordinary amount of time from
staff and LNC members that would be much better used getting people
elected.*

It takes very little time from staff. The LNC not so much since I would
estimate that any destruction requests would be under 10 minutes a year.
