Yes, Caryn Ann.
There was a fusion bill put forth by a libertarian-leaning republican in the Missouri legislature a couple of years back. LPMO played a large role in it never making it out of committee. We took the Jeffersonian position of peace, commerce and honest friendship with all but entangling alliances with none.
There needs to be a party of principle and principles are the first thing to be thrown away when crafting political alliances.

I think accepting fusion sends the same signal, no?

I can't speak to Austin's motivations, but when we repeatedly nominate ex-Republicans for president, it does kind of signal to potential candidates that they need not worry about leaving the LP for the GOP since they can come to the LP from that party whenever they want without hurting their chances of being nominated by Libertarians.

Austin Petersen’s ‘transparent’ political maneuver raises a host of questions:
What is Austin’s real motivation?
How does his switch impact us?
What we can learn from his mistake?
How can we turn his political misstep into an opportunity for us?
How should we react to Austin’s ‘get elected at all costs’ ploy?
Thoughts?
