[Lnc-business] Proposed amicus brief: Husted v. APRI

Nick,

Although I'm not sure I'd put it at the top of a priority list of cases deserving of amicus briefs from us, I would like to see us file more such briefs, and agree the practice of automatically purging voters from the rolls is worth challenging, so I'd support our joining the respondents in the case as you describe. The ability to conduct such voter purges constitutes another tool for electoral manipulation in the hands of those in power.

However I would ask you to bring it as a motion to the full LNC, rather than just sending it to the Executive Committee. Making decisions via the Executive Committee should be reserved for urgent matters on which there is not time for the LNC to consider. If I read the material at the link correctly, our deadline to file an amicus brief is not until September 15, so that would not appear to be the case here. Sending non-urgent items to the Executive Committee amounts to disenfranchising the full LNC, which I don't think is what our party members want.

Love & Liberty,

                                     ((( starchild )))
