We need to be gathering and sharing the number of registered Libertarians.
I recently received the 2017 annual report which includes a graph of the
number of dues paying members since 1998. Our dues paying members during
the past decade have been about 14,000 to 15,000. We should track this, but
we publicize this number too much. What we should be publicizing is the
700,000 (my guess) nationwide registered Libertarians.
A few years ago I brought this up to our membership chair and the issue was
that it was hard to obtain and one cannot register as a Libertarian in some
states. I believe we could get these numbers with a little effort and we
could count dues paying members in states where one cannot register "L". *I
would be willing to obtain and track these numbers if so delegated.*
I believe that the number of registered Libertarians has been increasing. I
think a person would be more likely to donate if they new our membership
was 700,000 and growing instead of 15,000 and steady. It is really about
building momentum and optimism using data. People want to be part of a team
moving in a positive direction toward a common goal.
Please share with the LNC, perhaps at your meeting in Denver next week.
Unfortunately I will be on a backcountry ski trip and will not be in
attendance.
You did a great job at the Colorado LP Convention last month.
