[Lnc-business] Connecticut Ballot Access Status/Update/Formal Request for Aid

Dan,

Thank you for the detailed update, and congratulations on being considered for your town's equivalent of city council! (I trust you plan to accept?)

We did adopt at our last meeting, for better or for worse, a set of criteria to qualify for LNC campaign funding which I trust will be made available to any state-level New Jersey candidates who may request financial assistance with their ballot access efforts. If I understand you correctly to be saying that the petition on which you need 7500 valid signatures would qualify several candidates simultaneously, that's an interesting situation which our funding guidelines may not have anticipated, but while that gets sorted out, national staff putting out an email seeking volunteer help for the effort certainly sounds reasonable.

Is it realistic however to think that the Connecticut LP can ride to 20% in the governor's race on the strength of massive amounts of robocalling? A lot of people don't like robocalls. I'm not sure they make up in volume what they cost in goodwill. And what about the qualities of the candidate himself? The best campaign marketing plan in the world is of zero value to the freedom movement unless it is used to elect someone who has solid libertarian positions and will stick with them in office to advance the cause in the face of increased statist pressures to "get with the program" and "go along to get along". Does your 2018 Strategic Plan give any thought to the question of how to avoid someone the Connecticut LP elects, or recruits from another party, taking un-libertarian actions once in office as a Libertarian, as occurred in Nevada with a candidate to whom the LNC provided funds?

Love & Liberty,

We also know where the validity rates are highest, and can direct petitioners to these places accordingly. Also, and this is critical - state budget referenda occur during the spring, meaning that targeting these events will yield good signatures.

   Dear LNC,

I can report good news - we have 2,000 signatures in hand for the

We currently hold ballot access for US Senate, the Second Congressional
District and state assembly districts 9 and 35.

I can also report we have a Libertarian on the Board of Ed in my town,
Matt Radant (cc'd). With one of the Board of Selectman passing last
week, I have already been contacted seeking my interest on whether or
not I would like to fill that seat - as a Libertarian (Board of
Selectman is analogous to City Council).

We also have, what our treasurer coded, the "Machine of Knowledge",
which has an autodialer. We used that to do a landline call/cell text
campaign to reach every household in both Norwich (population 40,000)
and Plainfield, CT (population 20k) in municipal elections last year.

The Machine of Knowledge is here (auto-dialer, of course, is password
   protected) - [2]http://lpct.tabbycatsoftware.com/ I'd invite the
committee to take this for a spin... Jeff Thibeault (its inventor and
our candidate for Lt Governor) can fill you in on the variety of
reports the Machine of Knowledge can generate associated with the robo
   calls.

I am also cc'ing Rod Hanscomb, our candidate for governor. His campaign
already had a built and ready to go marketing plan.

We continue to add town committees, which are critical to running
candidates and getting them elected so that we may achieve Libertarian
things in office. Our vice chair, Roger Misbach (also cc'd), has taken
the helm getting these committees started, and he is focusing

of the work that's gone into getting us up to speed (rapidly).

We have a state central meeting tonight, and we're looking for an
update on what help is available and can be had.

However, governor is critical. We have a slate of top state officers
all on that one petition. That only requires 7500 valid. As you all
know, Connecticut is unique in that each and every signature is
   checked.

We are also running and increasing number of state assembly and state
senate candidates. We have, as I recall, a total of 9 candidates
   nominated.

Our deadline to collect signatures is the first Wednesday of August.

i worry, because without knocking this ballot access thing out, we're
not raising money and getting our candidates where they belong - in
front of as many media outlets as possible, spreading the good word.
There are no predominant candidates for governor in Connecticut making
headway, leaving this as a solid opportunity for us.

i am also working on six sitting state reps, to get them to come over,
   and one shows promise.

Given the Machine of Knowledge, 20% for governor is achievable, and
that would give us major party status. The whole idea is we don't have
to worry about statewide ballot access ever again. Given that our state
is now considering tolls, an unholy assortment of new gun laws and
continues to bleed ink (virtually unopposed by the Republicans), this
is a real opportunity. Waiting to act post-NOLA could very well cost
that opportunity, and will in fact cost much more money.

We have made as much outreach as possible to try and locate a
   professional fundraiser as well.

Any and all leads on funding are critical.

The Libertarian Party of Connecticut respectfully requests that the LNC
consider a contribution of $20,000 - choosing a petitioner to lead the
gathering effort of its choice, of course. The good news is we
successfully sued a few years ago, and we don't require in-state
witnesses. We also know where the validity rates are highest, and can
direct petitioners to these places accordingly. Also, and this is
critical - state budget referenda occur during the spring, meaning that

We are also requesting that the national staff put out a nationwide
email call to seek help and volunteers for this effort. While we have
made active use of the data dumps, we are also looking for where to
acquire new lists to better expand our reach.

Of course, the sooner we can get this put together, the easier and more
   cost efficient it will be.
