Caryn Ann, I made a few edits and changes:
WHEREAS, the Libertarian Party holds the non-initiation of force as its
cardinal principle and requires each of its members certify that
they neither advocate or believe in violent means to achieve political
or social goals.
RESOLVED, that the Libertarian National Committee suspends Arvin Vohra
from his position of Vice-Chair for sustained and repeated unacceptable
conduct that brings the principles of the Libertarian Party into
disrepute, including making and defending a statement advocating
violence against state employees who are not directly
threatening imminent physical harm. Such action is in violation of our
membership
pledge. These actions further endanger the survival of our movement
and the security of all of our members without their consent.
First paragraph: Omitted the "to" before certify and changed belief into
believe.
Second paragraph: Removed "lethal", as shooting is violence, so no need
to add lethal, as even advocating non-lethal shooting is unacceptable.
The second instance of lethal, also removed, and inserted "physical"
before harm. With sentence ending. Created new sentence, starting at,
"Such action..."
If we,(and others if they wish to help with the draft) can agree on
language, I'd again be happy to be the person to make the initial motion
to remove Arvin.
I've now seen on FB, Arvin Vohra's public explanation of his 'joke', and
he how he views those who work for a public entity, as an "enemy
collaborator", and that whatever force is needed to stop them is
acceptable. (I'd be happy to share his statement if anyone needs to see
it.) His concept that everyone who works for a government entity is an
'enemy", and that this constitutes a legitimate reason for violence
against them, isn't acceptable, and the LNC and LP, needs to fully
reject such suggestions of unprovoked violence. We're not the party
calling for a violent overthrow, on the contrary, we advocate for
peaceful change by working within the system. Our LP members, friends,
family, and neighbors, who work for government entities in any capacity,
aren't the enemy. Nor, are elected officials, the enemy. What we oppose
are the Laws and Legislation that take away our rights, autonomy, and
interfere with our right to led a peaceful life of our own deciding.
It's the system and the laws that we fight against. The people,
individually, or collectively, aren't our target. I believe we can
change the system and the laws. That's why I'm a member of the
Libertarian Party.
