[Lnc-business] Proposed

Nicholas Sarwark chair at lp.org

Dear All,

I want to reply to agree with Mr. Longstreth and Mr. Fishman, time is of
the essence _and_ we should not act hastily.

We should post a call for applicants to become part of our Development
department as soon as possible. My long-term goal is to expand the
Development department to approximately 1/3 of the organization to support
the long-term growth of the party. Joel Trammell talks about always being
on the lookout for talent, so we should cast a wide net for talented people
who can help build that department.

At the same time, we have essentially had a one-person department for the
time that Ms. Daugherty has worked for the party. Bringing a brand new
person in to the position of building out a department from scratch under
intense time pressure has a high potential for error. If we were not
experiencing an urgent cash crunch, we could make sure the search process
is thorough and build out some of the framework of a department to give
guidance and support to the person who ends up in the role.

My goal is to ensure that we are able to raise enough money on a monthly
basis to not have to cut staff or projects during the search process or
lose momentum on our way into the 2020 election. My longer term goal is to
make sure we have a robust Development department that can take our budget
to the next level of $3-5 MM per year. This is a goal I believe I share
with Ms. Daugherty, Mr. Fishman, and the LNC.

My hope is that our meeting in Austin will produce the best path to meet
those short and long term goals.

Yours in liberty,
Nick
