[Lnc-business] Twitter/Social media - again

So, having spoken to Robert Clarke

The #impeachTheMF was already trending and became very popular.
In an attempt to ride the wave or twitter popularity, Robert used it with a
(imho) very good post which is also going to pass a half million views on
facebook. And that is specifically what I hired him to do.

The TEXT of the tweet is about as good message as we would hope people to
read. I include it here for people who didn't see the tweet.

So the strategic question becomes -- is using preexisting hashtags to make
your social media presence bigger a good strategy?

Some people who might not understand that hashtags are categories, not
statements of position -- though sometimes people do use them in that way
-- ESPECIALLY when they say them aloud. I'm sure you all remember the
hashtag #NotMyChristian complaining about the decision to cast Jamie Dornan
as Christian Grey in the film adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey. Experienced
social media operatives will use trending hashtags as a way to get their
message read. I don't think anyone who read the message will object to the
body?

The problem is of course, we want our tweet read. This one was read by
150000 people (as of now) and it is as far as I can guess, going to be the
most popular tweet EVER by the LP. To me that's worth it. Hashtags are
tools, not sentiment. If you want to be part of the conversation on
twitter, you use hashtags.

I have spoken to Robert about the fact that LPHQ is not the LNC and we do
not publish policy. I do want him to keep getting our message in the public
eye.

I'm interested in the LNC's thoughts?
1) is the body of the tweet a message we want to get in front of as many
people as possible?
2) if the price of that is using trending hashtags is it worth it?
