[Lnc-business] Fall/Winter meeting dates and location

According to:

   http://www.lp.org/leadership/lnc-meeting-archives

The LNC has only met in California once in the past 12 years.

California has 13% of the National LP membership. Using that criteria
California qualifies for an LNC Meeting

once every 2 to 3 years. I think us Left Coasters are slightly overdue for
an in-person LNC Meeting.

My schedule should be clear Nov 14-15, or Dec 5 or Dec 11 weekends.

Also, I'd like to 2nd Norm's call to include Denver in a coming meeting .
either 4th quarter 2015, or 1st quarter 2016. In addition to giving the
western states a fair turn on travel time, I've got friends in the Denver
area who I'd like to visit .

Dear colleagues:

I hope all is well with you. Ms. Kirkland's message below suggests that
I may not have explained well the second comment offered in my previous
message. Allow me to clarify the point I sought to make.

I have been aware since speaking to Ms. Kirkland several days ago that
the Rosen Centre is offering a room rate of $95.00 per night for the Nov.
14-15 meeting date. Mr. Sarwark's message indicated that after the Nov.
28-29 weekend, the hotel will be in holiday season; as a result, room rates
will increase. Thus, I was surprised to observe that the room rate quoted
for Nov. 14-15 (before the holiday season begins) is higher than the rate
for Dec. 12-13 (after the holiday season begins).

The fact that the website rate quoted for Nov. 14-15 is higher than that
for Dec. 12-13 doesn't necessarily imply anything about the rates we shall
be offered for a Dec. 12-13 meeting vis-a-vis the aforementioned $95.00
rate. However, it suggests to me that before considering a motion in this
matter, we should inquire whether the hotel will make us a similar offer
($95.00 or thereabouts) for a December meeting.

Unless the Rosen Centre doesn't have the necessary guest rooms or
meeting space for Dec. 12-13, I would be very surprised if the hotel is
unwilling to make us a similar offer for that date, especially given that we
are holding our national convention there next year. I don't believe the
hotel will consider it impertinent of us to request formally a $95.00 rate
for a Dec. 12-13 meeting.

Allow me to emphasize that I don't want to put anyone to great trouble
and/or expense so that I can address libertarian student conferences in
Europe. If the LNC chooses the Nov. 14-15 meeting date after careful
consideration of the situation, so be it. However, before we make the
choice, let us ensure that we have investigated the matter fully.

As always, thanks for your work for liberty. Again, I hope my comments
are helpful to you.

    Take care,
    Jim
