[Lnc-business] first 2016 LNC meeting date and location?

Scott,
Well in next months visit to Orlando of LNC,  I am staying 2 nights at a hotel within easy walking distance of the meeting.   Have a room for 2 for 2 nights plus rental car plus breakfast for $195 total.  There are lots of hotels in the Orlando area from $40 for basic to $65 for the Claraton Inn.  (but need to use online discounters to get the cheaper prices)  They also have a nudist club just south of Orlando where we could bask in the sun and get fresh air.  : - 0
In November we are having our ND/SD convention in Bismarck.  Hotel rooms for convention are marked down to $95 (from $125),  but I got mine at $85 online.  We have reserved a very large meeting room with extremely good set up for just $150.   Private dinning room for lunch and supporter free, and we just order off menu.
But, I would not advocate a LNC meeting in ND,  especially during our 9 months of sub-artic winter.   But I bet I could easily find a good deal in Minneapolis (or any other major American city as well).
Oh well,  we want to take over and run the American government,  just as soon as we figure out first how to schedule our next meeting.  : - )

The average daily rate for hotels in the USA as of two months ago was  $123per night:         http://www.statista.com/statistics/208133/us-hotel-revenue-per-available-room-by-month/       I don’t feellike looking at my credit card bills for the past year, but I would estimatethat the average daily rate the LNC has paid for hotel rooms for LNC Sessionsduring this term has averaged around $115 per night, excluding taxes.  Andmost of the time we have obtained either a truly “free” breakfast,or at least a continental breakfast which was used as part of the food andbeverage requirement to waive the room rental fee.    The only place youwill find $40 to $60 room rates is discount hotels in small towns that don’thave nearby, usable airports, or really run-downmotels in big cities.  Neither of these types of hotels tend to havemeeting rooms that are large enough for our purposes.       Just for the hell ofit, this is what a superficial look at Google yields for North Dakota :

Free Wi-FiFree breakfast       $89 Courtyard by Marriott Fargo Moorhead    3-star hotel ·  28th Ave S Roadside hotel with contemporary rooms & 2 indoorpools, plus a 24/7 business center & free WiFi. Free Wi-Fi       I have no idea how theabove rates correspond to the rate we can get for an LNC Session at thosehotels, nor if the above hotels have suitable meeting rooms,  but as youcan see below, the local airport does not have a huge number of non-stopflights:
| Fargo, ND        Airlines | Destinations |
| Allegiant Air | Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando/Sanford, Phoenix/Mesa
 Seasonal: St. Petersburg/Clearwater |
| American Eagle | Chicago-O'Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth |
| Delta Air Lines | Minneapolis/St. Paul |
| Delta Connection | Minneapolis/St. Paul |
| United Express | Chicago-O'Hare, Denver |

I don’t have anytrouble trusting my life to Southwest or the other major airlines.  All ofthe airlines listed above, except for Delta, use pilots that probably makearound $40,000 per year.  No thank you.    I should add that Fargo is the largest cityin ND.    In other words –our current system for LNC Sessions might not be ideal, but it is probably thebest compromise in terms of hotel guest room cost, airline cost, and having a reasonably comfortable meeting room.       ScottLieberman

Subject: Re: [Lnc-business] first2016 LNC meeting date and location?    After reading some of the discussion on this list, I'm thinkingFebruary 20, or March 5 would be the best dates, and either Los Angeles or Indianapolis would be preferred locations.

I don't make these decisions--I'm just trying to facilitate the discussion so Ican make educated guesses.

We're trying to plan our next training event, and I'll encourage February 6 or13 for the training event.  We're leaning towards the West Coast for this.

My history of correctly guessing the weekend and location of LNC meetings hasbeen pretty poor lately--so keep that in mind before making decisions based onwhat I'm thinking.

Robert Kraus and I have occasionally proposed dates and locations, only to bemet with derision and scorn for conflicting with certain sports events.

A list of 2016 state conventions is here: https://www.lp.org/blogs/staff/2016-state-conventions

Staff is considering the possibility of another training session, possibly inFebruary, and while we would probably attempt to avoid the LNC meeting, that'snot 100% required.

We'd like to announce the date and location in the upcoming LP New if possible.

Thanks, --
