[Lnc-business] Quarterly Board Meeting Hotel Proposals

Yes, thank you to all on staff who have helped to acquire this
information. It is exactly what the board asked for and I for one
appreciate you guys doing it.

Having written that, I remain confused as to why *the board* has been so
adamant to receive these quotes.

At some point throughout the whole conversation it was explained to me that
the price points would be relevant in that they would be a reflection of
what we might expect for a national convention space in 2018. While I
still contend this shouldn't be a huge factor, I am at least much more
sympathetic at trying to coordinate the entire body's delegation into hotel
/ meeting spaces.

However, it's pretty clear from the spreadsheets that these quotes are
exclusively for us, the LNC, over the month of February and nothing beyond
that?

So as I kind of feared would be the case, it seems that we're now basing
the entirety of our decision on what it will cost us. If that's true, I
cannot even begin to express how many issues I have with that. As I have
stated time and again, I am completely reasonable with cost. I am NOT
suggesting we should just blow money - ever. But there are actual issues
at hand here. There are actual reasons to use one city over another. The
chair presented some cases towards OKC. Others presented cases towards
Phoenix.

I am really struggling to understand why we would be using cost as a factor
here. There are actual responsibilities that this board has. Within some
reason, price should NOT be the determining factor for this decision. We
have had EIGHT weeks to factor the merits of this decision. It will be
extremely disappointing if in the end we pick A over B just because it
saves the members of this board $100 - $200.

Thank you.
