[Lnc-business] Seeking Co-Sponsors: Motion to set the September Meeting Location

Just to chime in with my two cents on the location issue:
1. I do appreciate the outside the box thinking. We do need to have some
of that in what we do. No question there.
2. Starchild is an awesome activist and one of the strongest voices in
our movement
3. The offer was very gracious by our members.
4. We should always look at ways to save money to give our membership
the most bang for its buck.
That being said, there are valid concerns. On top of some issues that
have already been brought up, I will add that as a veteran of the Iraq
war, being outside in 90+ degree weather (especially in a desert
landscape) would not go over very well with one of the issues I have.
Hot weather is a trigger for me with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Add
in a possibility for a tense situation, as can happen with some
meetings, and it is a risk for things like panic attacks.
As much as I hate to bring up any sort of collectivist type arguments,
in cases like this we do need to look at what the majority of
individuals consider appropriate on this committee.
So far, what I am hearing from most people who have given their two
cents:
1. Medical issues that warrant an actual meeting space
2. Professionalism issues of wanting to be seen as an organization ready
to take on two powerful entities
3. Safety concerns
4. Liability issues
I trust Mr. Sarwark and Mr. Kraus to find an affordable option for us.
With the added benefit of membership living in the area, I am sure there
will be no shortage of willingness to help in coordinating rides to
offset costs.
Regards,
Craig Bowden
