[Lnc-business] General thoughts on this whole convention issue

I view that as implicitly giving that option where there is a vacancy. But
you are correct it is not explicit. What is explicit is that online
conventions are not authorized as only boards and committees can have
online meetings. There is no authority to call a "rump convention" either.
The minute a convention is gaveled in, those that are there ARE the
delegates authorized to conduct all convention business, and we must be
prepared and have facilities to do just that. If the delegates there then
decide to change the bylaws, they of course can, but being prompted to by
us does not seem appropriate to me. I have been saying this since last
convention where I still maintain the delegates were led by the nose to
circumvent the rules in the at-large election which directly led to us
having no JC.

I guess I am just becoming very dismayed at how much we are planning to
circumvent the bylaws.

I am sure everyone will do what they firmly believe is right, and not all
of us will agree on what that is. No one is behaving in bad faith.
